Mr. Smith will begin the 2025-2026 school year in his second year as the Head High School Principal. Mr. Smith began his career at Kiski Area in March of 2012. He has been employed in the district as an Assistant Principal since that time. Matt was previously employed by the Greater Latrobe School District as a mathematics teacher (6 years), an Athletic Director (5 years), and an Assistant Senior High Principal (2 years). Mr. Smith has a Master's Degree in School Administration from California University of PA, a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Education from Clarion University of PA, and is a proud 1995 graduate of Kiski Area. Matt's wife, Amy (Jarmul) Smith, is also a Kiski Area graduate ('98) and they have two children - Cameron and Madison.  The Smith family resides in nearby Sarver, PA.

Dr. Szarek will begin the 2025-2026 school year in her second year as Assistant Principal. Alicia was previously employed by Butler Area School District as a Reading Specialist (14 years) and Dean of Students (2 years). Dr. Szarek has a Doctorate of Education in Literacy, Language & Culture from the University of Pittsburgh; a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh; a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh; and is a proud graduate (‘03) of Kiski Area.

Mr. Braden Hoffer - Assistant Principal

Mr. Hoffer will begin the 2025-2026 school year in his second year as Assistant Principal. Mr. Hoffer previously served as the Assistant Principal at Jeannette Junior-Senior High School, and prior to working in administration, Mr. Hoffer taught English at several schools in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Mr. Hoffer has a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership and Administration from Pennsylvania Western University at California, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Saint Vincent College.
