Press Release from PA Governor Wolf and Statement from Kiski Area School District

Today, Governor Tom Wolf announced that all K-12 Pennsylvania schools will be closed for 10 business days effective Monday, March 16, 2020. The administration has been working with school districts as well as state and local officials to gather input on this decision. The Wolf Administration will continue to monitor Covid-19 in the commonwealth, and at the end of 10 days will reevaluate and decide whether continued closure is needed.

The Kiski Area School District continues to follow this situation closely and will provide any necessary updates to our community via email, website, and Skylert calling system in the same manner we communicate during inclement weather.

After dismissal, the district conducted a search of the facility with the assistance of police K-9 units from multiple police departments in the Region 13 Task Force. The conclusion of that search confirmed our analysis that the information was not accurate.

Out of an abundance of caution there will be an increased police presence at the high school campus tomorrow morning. The safety of our students and staff members remains the focus of our actions.

Law Enforcement and the district will continue to investigate the inappropriate tips and prosecute the individuals responsible for false tips to the fullest extent of the law.
